Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Supervise other workers
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
  • Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures
  • Examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Provide technical and professional advice
  • Perform pre-production runs of binding or finishing jobs to verify output and to ensure that product specifications are met
  • Repair or replace damaged windows, windshields and sunroofs
  • Make adjustments necessary to ensure the smooth running of processes
  • Examine and verify the accuracy of work
  • Coordinate construction activities to ensure compliance with established building specifications
